Together with colleagues from the Fraunhofer IVV and the Fraunhofer Agriculture Food Industry Alliance, the LZSiS presented its expertise in the areas of FoodTech&Sec.

The Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology, together with the Fraunhofer Center of Secure Intelligent Systems, the University of Bayreuth, the Food Cluster and the Bavarian Research Alliance, organized a three-day event in Kulmbach. The event consisted of a visit to the companies IREKS and RAPS, a networking event with pitches from international companies and a workshop day to develop new cooperation ideas.
In a globalized world with numerous number of players, guaranteeing our food-security has become a challenging topic, in particularly in the Global South. The remedy to such challenge may reside in the revolutionary artificial intelligent developments that our world is currently witnessing.
With world leading academic institutions, high investment in R&D and top-notch startups, Israel, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Bavaria/Germany are investing substantial resources in promoting advanced food-security technologies.

We, the Fraunhofer Center of Secure Intelligent Systems (LZSiS) were on site and participated in various speeches and panel discussions with our representatives: Liran Sahar (Food Security Liaison LZSiS), Prof. Julius Olufemi Olapade (Project Coordinator INCiTiS-FOOD, Njala University, Sierra Leone), Dr. Emmanuel Benjamin (Project Coordinator INCiTiS-FOOD, University of Bundeswehr, Munich), Prof. Dr. habil. Carsten Lorz (Hochschule-Weihenstephan).
Various stakeholders from the food industry but also leading research and development institutions came together from all over the world to share their knowledge and tackle the challenge of food security. This Summit serves as a worldwide accelerator for the food industries to support the transition from invention to action in food security.
Inspired by Bavarian and Israeli Resilience: How could developing countries provide food security for their citizens?
Climate change, the war in the Ukraine and other geo-political conflicts are having an acute effect on all of us, but especially on developing countries. Both Bavaria and Israel, with their long lasting economic and scientific partnership, are searching for new food solutions.
Bavaria and Israel cooperate together: As part of a side event at the Munich Security Conference on February 17th, 2023, organized by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, the Consulate General of the State of Israel in southern Germany and the Fraunhofer Center for Secure Intelligent Systems (LZSiS) it was discussed how Bavaria and Israel with their advanced food technologies and intelligent agricultural solutions could support developing countries in dealing with food security.
